Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Countdown to a Cure! The evening was a powerful celebration of resilience, hope, and progress as we united in the fight to find a cure for rare kidney diseases. The night was filled with inspiring stories from patients, families, and doctors, showcasing how far we’ve come and highlighting the work that still needs to be done.

From the heartfelt speeches to the generous outpouring of support from our donors, Countdown to a Cure was more than just an event – it was a testament to the strength of our community. Together, we raised critical funds that will go directly toward accelerating research, and improving the lives of patients living with these challenging conditions.

Medical Professional of the Year Award

Eric Dube, Ph.D. 

President & CEO, Travere Therapeutics

Eric Dube, Ph.D., is the president, chief executive officer and a director of Travere Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company whose mission is to identify, develop and deliver life-changing therapies to people living with rare disease. Prior to joining Travere, Dr. Dube served as president and head of North America at ViiV Healthcare and spent more than 18 years working in roles of increasing leadership at GlaxoSmithKline across the United States, Europe and Japan. He currently serves on the executive committee of the board of directors for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), and the board of directors for Reneo Pharmaceuticals. 

Dr. Dube was named a 2022 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Southwest winner. He has been recognized by PharmaVOICE magazine as one of the “100 Most Inspiring People” in the life sciences industry, the Financial Times as one of the “OUTstanding 100 LGBT+ Executives and Pharmaceutical Executive as one of the “Emerging Pharma Leaders”. Earlier in his career, Fortune magazine named him a “40 Under 40: Ones to Watch”.  Dr. Dube graduated from Santa Clara University with a B.S. in biopsychology and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Cornell University.

Jennifer Geisser

Executive Vice President, Communications, NBC Universal; NephCure Board Member and Patient Parent  

Jennifer Geisser is the Executive Vice President of Unscripted Communications and Talent Relations at NBCUniversal, overseeing publicity, strategy, and talent relations for unscripted programming across NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen True Crime, USA Network, Universal Kids, and syndicated shows. Since joining NBCUniversal in 2011, she has led communications for Bravo, managing hit series like “The Real Housewives” and “Below Deck.” Jennifer also handles communications for NBC’s acclaimed unscripted series such as “The Voice,” “America’s Got Talent,” E! platforms, and the Emmy Award-winning “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

Beyond her career, Jennifer has dedicated 20 years to serving on the board of NephCure, a commitment sparked by her son Owen’s diagnosis with Nephrotic Syndrome. She has actively contributed to NephCure’s fundraising initiatives, including the Countdown to a Cure gala, family walk-a-thons, and the All In for a Cure Charity Golf Outing. Jennifer has also secured high-profile auction items to advance the cause and passionately advocates for newly diagnosed patients and their families.

She is the mother of two sons, Parker, 26, a recent graduate of Fordham Law School and Owen, 21 who just graduated Magna Cum Laude from Beacon College. Between juggling being a mom and her busy career, her number one priority remains finding a cure for rare kidney disease.

Andy Cohen  

Emmy Award-winning Host and Executive Producer of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live 

Andy Cohen is an Emmy Award-winning host, producer, and author best known as the host and executive producer of Emmy-Nominated “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” Bravo’s late night, interactive talk show. The series is the only live show in late night television and consistently makes headlines with bold interviews viewers don’t see anywhere else. Cohen serves as executive producer on over 11 properties across NBCUniversal. He also has two personally curated channels onSiriusXM “Radio Andy” and “Andy Cohen’s Kiki Lounge,” and his own book imprint, Andy Cohen Books. He has been a New York Times best-selling author five times and hosts CNN’s NYE Special with Anderson Cooper.

In his ten years as an executive at Bravo he was responsible for an aggressive slate of unscripted series and specials including hits. Cohen received an Emmy award when season six of “Top Chef” won at the 2010 primetime Emmy Awards and has been nominated for 18 additional Emmy Awards. In 2019, Cohen was awarded the Vito Russo Award by GLAAD. In June 2020, Andy was recognized in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety’s Most Powerful LGBTQ Players in Hollywood lists. Additionally, Cohen received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in February 2022. Born in St. Louis, Cohen resides in New York City with his son, Benjamin Cohen and daughter, Lucy Cohen.
