FSGS Awareness Day 2026

NephCure is proud to recognize the second annual FSGS Awareness Day on June 9, 2026, shining a light on focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a rare, progressive kidney disease that can lead to kidney failure if left untreated.

FSGS often develops quietly with symptoms that are easy to miss until serious damage has already occurred.

But now, there’s more reason for hope than ever before. In April, the first treatment for FSGS was approved by the FDA.
That means new conversations, new options, and new possibilities for people living with FSGS.

A First for FSGS Patients: What the sparsentan Approval Means for You

During this live discussion, moderated by NephCure’s COO Lauren Eva and CEO Josh Tarnoff, leading physicians Drs. Kirk Campbell, Laura Mariani, and Howard Trachtman walked through what this sparsentan FDA approval means for the FSGS community. They also discussed who may benefit and what patients and families should know as they navigate next steps.

What is FSGS?

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a disease that causes scarring in the kidney’s filtering units.

Over time, this damage can lead to:

  • Protein leaking into the urine
  • Swelling in the body
  • Declining kidney function

FSGS is a leading cause of nephrotic syndrome and can progress to kidney failure.

The earlier you understand your risk, the more options you may have, including newly available treatments.
