Susan Brisendine

Vice President, Partnerships & Innovation

Susan Brisendine is a patient advocacy leader, communications specialist and way maker for innovation who has worked with the rare disease community for more than 20 years. She has held leadership roles at pioneering health and life science organizations including bluebird bio, Novartis, GSK, Global Genes, and the Foundation for Cell and Gene Medicine where she developed and executed evidence-based, impactful programs to support patient communities and build strategic partnerships. Susan has a proven track record of driving successful common cause collaborations and fostering relationships with key stakeholders. In her current and newly created role as Vice President, Partnerships and Innovation for NephCure, Susan is focused on partnering with stakeholders and innovators to identify and overcome barriers to accelerate awareness, access, care, and research/treatment for our community. She is also helping grow the footprint, reach and impact of our organization through strategic and creative fundraising efforts as head of our development team. Susan lives near Raleigh NC and has four children, two of whom have had undiagnosed medical conditions. A Michigan native, she enjoys spending time outdoors and cheering for her beloved Detroit Lions and Tigers.
