Kristen Hood, Ed.D., MSN, RN

Executive Director, Research Engagement

Kristen Hood, Ed.D., MSN, RN serves as NephCure’s Executive Director of Research Engagement. As a nurse with a specialty in patient-centered education, she devotes her time to our community through education and research initiatives. Kristen enjoys connecting with patients through personal and virtual platforms and is driven to help individuals improve their health outcomes.

Kristen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Southwestern University in 2001. She then completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2004 and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing Education in 2017. In 2022, she graduated with a Doctorate in Nursing Education from Bryan College of Health Sciences.

Kristen’s extensive nursing background includes medical-surgical nursing, neonatal nursing, labor/delivery and postpartum, pediatrics, and school nursing. Prior to coming to NephCure, Kristen was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at a pre-licensure nursing school. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Texas League for Nurses, National League for Nurses, American Nephrology Nurse Association, and Women in Nephrology. Kristen resides in San Antonio, Texas, with her husband Randy, children, Ben, Logan, and Emma, and their beloved vizsla, Copper Sky.
