Kara Jones joined the NephCure team as the Director of Community Engagement in July 2022. A nephrotic syndrome patient parent and NephCure volunteer of 13 years, Kara deeply enjoys bringing the patient and volunteer community together to build life-changing connections. Whether it’s talking on the phone with a caregiver, hosting patient family get togethers, organizing local community walks, or planning larger scale events like the Silicon Valley Pig Jig, Kara closely understands the value of community connections. She is excited to continue developing and advancing NephCure’s Regional Communities to further connect and serve the rare, protein-spilling kidney disease community.

In addition to being passionate about NephCure, Kara loves spending time with her husband, Troy; their children, Austin, Sarah, Christian (aka Cheech, who was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome in 2002), and Sammy; and their husky pup, Nora Jones. Kara currently resides in San Jose, California — although she considers herself a southern girl at heart.
