I was diagnosed 19 years ago. I followed the doctors’ orders in regards to medicine, diet, losing weight and getting as healthy as possible. I truly believe that is what allowed me to wait 16 years before starting dialysis, when I was originally given 5 years. And I continue to fight to maintain.
