VOYXACT (Sibeprenlimab)<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Sibeprenlimab<\/strong>\u00a0(brand name VOYXACT)
This is a new prescription medication used to treat IgA nephropathy (IgAN), a kidney disease caused by the buildup of abnormal IgA antibodies (called Gd-IgA1) in the bloodstream. These antibodies are produced in the gut, enter\u00a0your bloodstream,\u00a0and eventually reach the kidneys. Once in the kidneys, they trigger significant\u00a0inflammation that can\u00a0<\/ins>damage the kidneys.\u00a0\u00a0This damage can\u00a0lead to blood\u00a0and protein in the urine and, over time, loss of kidney function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VOYXACT (Sibeprenlimab) is a type of medicine known as a monoclonal antibody. These are highly specific proteins made in a laboratory.\u00a0They help the immune system\u00a0block the\u00a0processes that\u00a0drive\u00a0certain diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In IgAN, immune cells in the gut make too much of the abnormal IgA (Gd-IgA1).\u00a0Too much abnormal IgA contributes tokidney inflammation and long-term kidney scarring.
