In August 2005, Jessica was diagnosed with FSGS (Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis), a disease that causes the filters in her kidneys to collapse and will eventually lead to renal failure. She was a sophomore in college when she found out.

Jessica went through countless tests, trips to doctors, and emergency room visits before they were able to diagnose her with this devastating disease. Her life has not been the same. Although she was fortunate enough to finish college, she is still fighting an uphill battle.

Jessica wishes to teach and open her own business some day, but because she has been in and out of the hospital, her dream is a long ways away. She was on medications to help her kidney’s remain functional, but, unfortunately, they have failed. She is now on dialysis, and her only hope now is a kidney transplant.

Our hope is that doctors will find a cure so that people who are dealing with this disease can live normal lives. Please help in the fight by donating to this worthy cause.

Together with other patients and families, Jessica's Mom is organizing the first NephCure Walk in Richmond, VA, on May 1st.
