12 Nephletes Take Part in NYC Triathlon, Raise over $20K

After a one hour rain delay due to thunderstorms, the NYC Nautica Triathlon was underway with 12 Nephletes battling the currents in the Hudson River in order to raise awareness and over $20,000 for The NephCure Foundation. The oppressive heat and humidity did not deter and they all performed admirably.

Special thanks go to our top fundraisers: Brendan Duval, Mark Manley, Darcy Garner Bhatia, Frank Palumbo, Guy Leibstein and Neil Jacobs as well as Petagaye English, David Simmons and Alexis Patterson.

Steve Malen (pictured here) finished in less than three hours. His innovative hot dog and lemonade stand fundraiser along with his extensive social media outreach helped him push toward his fundraising goal along with the rest of his fellow Nephletes.

The family relationships provided important motivation for the Nephletes. Brendan Duval said, “Kerry and Lexi (our inspiration for the charity) and the rest of the Denzel family have been in contact since we agreed to join the push for NephCure, including receiving some really great ‘care packs’ led by the girls handmade painting and cards.”
