School Dance Honors Classmate with Kidney Disease

photoThe Brentwood School’s Going Beyond School (GBS) program recently held a dance for 7th and 8th grade students, raising $350 for The NephCure Foundation in honor of seventh-grade student Madison Turner, who suffers from kidney disease.

Eighth-grade student Caylee Hancock, president of the GBS program, and classmate Erin Register organized the dance. Along with the help of others in the school and community, they solicited area businesses for donations of food, beverages, entertainment and other supplies for the dance. Students were charged $5 each at the door and all the money raised went to NephCure.

“We thought this would a great opportunity to help someone in our school,” said Hancock. “NephCure funds research that could help find a cure for Madison and the thousands like her who are suffering from kidney disease. This is an important cause.”

The Brentwood School is a K-12 private school located in Sandersville, Georgia.
